Know the cost before the long take

Turbo v2.5 uses 50 credits per 1,000 input characters, rounded up per generation. Spaces and punctuation count. Characters are not words, and recording length depends on the voice, text and speaking speed.

Standard is $9.99 per month and includes 5,000 credits per month, valid for one month. Premium is $29.99 per month with 20,000 credits. Both have the same model access and input limits. Monthly memberships renew automatically unless cancelled. Review the final amount and terms at checkout.

For example, generating a 30,000-character script and then generating the whole script again uses 3,000 credits in total. Leave room for a short voice test and any revisions. A new generation is not a free edit of the previous recording.

A credit top-up alone does not unlock this workflow. You need an active Standard or Premium membership as well as enough credits. Other member models currently allow up to 5,000 characters per generation; selecting a different model changes the limit and may change the credit cost.

Make the short test count

Before generating the full script, use a short passage containing its hardest name, a date or number, and a typical long sentence. Check that passage with the voice you intend to use for the final recording. Paid-model tests use credits too.

Then generate the full script. Keep the page open while the job runs. Listen to the beginning, a section in the middle, and the ending before downloading. Keep a copy of the original text and download the audio promptly; the plan's file-storage window is 72 hours, not permanent archiving.

If you change the script, you can generate another recording. Rekam does not currently replace one paragraph inside an existing MP3. You would need an audio editor to combine individual replacement clips yourself.

Is this the right workflow for your job?

It fits a prepared narration script that is within the character limit and needs one audio file. A video voiceover or a chapter-sized passage can fit this workflow, but check the actual character count rather than estimating from pages or minutes.

Choose a different workflow if you need:

• An entire book longer than 30,000 characters in a single generation.
• Automatic PDF or EPUB import, chapter markers, or an audiobook publishing package.
• Guaranteed pronunciation, exact timing to a video, or human performance direction.
• Local-only processing. This premium model uses an external provider.

For a short passage where a free voice is enough, use free text to speech. You do not need to subscribe just to try the free voices, and their output is not a preview of the paid ElevenLabs voice.
